A storm system brushing the area today, with mild air moving in from the SSW with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac Epernon will be around points where shallow meets deep. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Outaouais end of Quebec holds Lac Epernon. This is pine and birch country. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 80 km away. The big place round here is Gatineau, 193 km distant. If this one is busy: Lac Fayat lies 0.3 km on, Lac Camors 0.8 km off, Lac Rabot lies 1 km on, Lac du Colibri 2 km off and Lac Goult lies 2.5 km on. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Epernon that means starting tight and working out.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -17°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Count the season from break-up, usually early May. From about early May to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. The season on Lac Epernon rarely departs from it.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Fayat at 0.3 km is the sensible second choice. For Lac Epernon, the notice at the access point is the final word.
