A closed sky with even light today, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Whatever swims in Lac Gervais should be near the margins and the shelf beyond them. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Night
Lac Gervais is an Outaouais water, Quebec side. It stands 222 metres above sea level. Roughly 61 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 4.8 km, and most of it is walkable. It is among the larger waters listed here for Outaouais. For a base, Saint-Boniface sits 32 km out. For a city, Gatineau is 145 km off. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Gervais the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Long-run averages give July about 18°C and January about -15°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Lac Gervais runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A jetty or pier is mapped about 1.1 km from here. Mapping shows a campsite some 1.1 km from the water. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Lac Salomon at 1 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Gervais for certain.
