Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with barely a breath of wind and pressure going nowhere. The fish at Lac Gazeran are likely to sit near shallow cover and weed edges. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Lac Gazeran in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. It stands 372 metres above sea level. About 10 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Bank access stretches around 2.0 km in total. Val-d'Or is the closest place, 107 km off. Then Deep River, 116 km, and Malartic, 118 km. Other water nearby: Lac Cabirat some 0.9 km off, Lac Sabatier 1.3 km away, Lac Dieme some 1.4 km off, Lac Der 1.5 km away and Lac Luzerne some 2.2 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. The county list is broader than any single water. Lac Gazeran responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac Gazeran fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Cabirat is 0.9 km distant. Check the position at Lac Gazeran before loading the car.
