Bands of rain crossing through the day, with a light SSW breeze and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac Gamache along reed fringes and open pockets. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Gamache stands in Côte-Nord, Quebec. This is spruce and muskeg country. The water covers some 13 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Bank access stretches around 2.2 km in total. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. The closest town, Sept-Îles, is 13 km distant. It is 391 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Survey and observation records for Côte-Nord include logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Lac Gamache the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Average temperature peaks around 15°C in July and bottoms out near -16°C in January. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Lac Gamache that shapes the whole year.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Should this one be busy, Lac Pioui is 0.8 km off. Treat access at Lac Gamache as something to verify.
