Flat light and a covered sky today, with a kind ENE breeze on the water and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Fraser will be around points where shallow meets deep. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Laurentides in Quebec is where Lac Fraser sits. Elevation runs to 250 metres. It measures some 1.08 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. The shoreline runs about 7.5 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. It ranks high for size among our Laurentides listings. Nearest town is Brownsburg-Chatham, 18 km off. Further out sit Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard (20 km) and Morin-Heights (21 km). There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. On Lac Fraser the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Averages move between -13°C in January and 19°C in July. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near late November in autumn. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Fraser follows the weather closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Maple, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Where Lac Fraser is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
