A rainy spell sitting over the area, with the water lying quiet and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Fragon should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. The forecast is against you; the morning is the least bad option. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Look for Lac Fragon in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. Everything around it is pine and birch. At 5 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list holds plenty of bigger water. Start from Saint-Boniface, 110 km down the road. Gatineau sits 225 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Take Lac Fragon a stretch at a time.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -17°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. On average, early May opens the water and late November closes it again. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Plan any trip to Lac Fragon around it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Oxyde is 0.6 km off. Signs at Lac Fragon carry more weight than any list.
