A closed sky with even light today, with light air out of the S and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Fouet should come off inflow corners and shaded margins. The strongest window is the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Set in Mauricie, Lac Fouet is a Quebec water. The country here is boreal forest. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The closest town, Leblanc, is 34 km away. The big place round here is Saguenay, 212 km distant. Others worth noting: Lac a l'Ile near enough 0.6 km, Lac Louise about 0.7 km, Lac Martyre near enough 1.2 km, Lac Brochet about 1.6 km and Lac Natien near enough 2.1 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Mauricie records list northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Lac Fouet that means starting tight and working out.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 16°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan around that when you fish Lac Fouet.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Lac a l'Ile at 0.6 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac Fouet should be assumed from this page alone.
