Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with the surface near flat with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac Flavrian is shallow cover and weed edges. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Flavrian is one of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue waters in Quebec. The bank is 295 metres above sea level. This is sizeable water at about 3.26 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. Shoreline length is close to 14 km, and each section fishes a little differently. It ranks high for size among our Abitibi-Témiscamingue listings. Rouyn-Noranda at 14 km is the nearest place to stop. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 243 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Fish documented in Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The shape of Lac Flavrian decides where the fish sit.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -17°C. Winter owns most of the year at this latitude. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Flavrian fishes to that pattern most years.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Lac Meritens is 4.1 km off. Treat access at Lac Flavrian as something to verify.
