Dull, settled light over the water, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about and steady pressure. Fish at Lac Fidele should hold close to the shallows early and the drop later. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Fidele belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The land about it is northern bush. The water covers some 23 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 3.1 km, small enough to learn in a day. Saint-Félicien is the closest place, 53 km off. The big place round here is Saguenay, 149 km distant. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Fidele fishes better once you know its edges.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -18°C. The window is narrow, and fish feed hard while it lasts. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. On Lac Fidele the same rules apply, with local timing.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Failing this one, try Lac de la Faune, 1.1 km away. None of that is settled for Lac Fidele in what we hold.
