Fresh rain topping the water up today, with the surface near flat with the barometer flat. Activity on Lac Ferland should centre on the margins and the shelf beyond them. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Ferland sits in Lanaudière, out in Quebec. The bank is 463 metres above sea level. It covers about 3 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is a small entry by Lanaudière standards. Manawan sits 27 km from here and is the nearest stop. Beyond it, Saint-Michel-des-Saints at 45 km and Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm at 74 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Read Lac Ferland before you fish it and the day goes better.
Averages here run 17°C at the top of summer and -16°C at the bottom of winter. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Anyone fishing Lac Ferland regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. If the gate is shut, Lac Bug at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac Ferland in what we hold.
