Rain colouring the margins today, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface and steady pressure. Give the weed line and any gaps in it the first hour at Lac Feeder. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Mauricie, Quebec, is where Lac Feeder sits. Height above sea level is 380 metres. Roughly 24 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. Around 3.3 km of margin, front to back. Leblanc is the closest place, 26 km off. Then Weymontachie, 52 km, and Saint-Félicien, 120 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. At Lac Feeder the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -17°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan any trip to Lac Feeder around it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Violetta, 2.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac Feeder as something to verify.
