A closed sky with even light today, with a faint ENE drift with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Fairwind around the margins and the shelf beyond them. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Bundle up; the fishing will be slow but not impossible.

You will find Lac Fairwind in Centre-du-Québec, Quebec. The land about it is northern bush. Around 43.34 sq km of open water: conditions change from one end to the other. With about 171 km of shoreline, local advice saves a lot of walking. Few waters listed in Centre-du-Québec are bigger. The nearest town is Puvirnituq, 193 km away. Saguenay sits 1331 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Centre-du-Québec records list brook trout, northern pike and lake chub among the fish reported. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Lac Fairwind repays a walk before the first cast.
Averages move between -24°C in January and 11°C in July. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid June. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid June and starts locking again about late October. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Fairwind.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac de l'Impasse is 9.8 km off. None of that is settled for Lac Fairwind in what we hold.
