Solid cloud cover today, with a light SW breeze and pressure sitting still. On Lac Etienne, work any hard bottom among the soft first. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

The Côte-Nord end of Quebec holds Lac Etienne. The water sits 327 metres up. Saint-Alexandre is the closest place, 45 km off. Then Port-Cartier, 45 km, and Sept-Îles, 84 km. Close by you have: Lac Carrier within 2.1 km, Lac Port sits 2.5 km out, Lac Saline within 2.5 km, Lac du Meleze sits 2.5 km out and Lac Alone within 2.8 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Reported across Côte-Nord: logperch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac Etienne the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 16°C, while January sits near -16°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Lac Etienne runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Lac Carrier, 2.1 km out. Where Lac Etienne is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
