Overcast skies today, with light air out of the SSW with the barometer flat. The fish at Lac Ervin are likely to sit near the margins and the shelf beyond them. A tough forecast; the morning offers the only real chance. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, is where Lac Ervin sits. It lies 360 metres above sea level. Roughly 29 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. A shoreline of some 3.7 km keeps the choices simple. Start from Senneterre, 102 km down the road. After that come Val-d'Or at 108 km and Barraute at 123 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Abitibi-Témiscamingue cover northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Ervin the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -17°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Ervin.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Alassac sits 0.8 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Lac Ervin for certain.
