No direct sun expected today, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Lac en Coude around shallow cover and weed edges. Everything points to the night. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

In Quebec, Lac en Coude falls inside Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Height above sea level is 476 metres. At about 22 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The bank runs about 3.6 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The town to know is Saint-Félicien, 37 km out. Beyond it, Normandin at 42 km and Saint-Prime at 44 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Fish Lac en Coude where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Averages here run 16°C at the top of summer and -18°C at the bottom of winter. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. At Lac en Coude the season follows that pattern closely.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Should this one be busy, Lac Hublot is 1 km off. Check the current arrangement for Lac en Coude.
