A grey, even sky over the water, with next to no ripple and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Lac Emance should hold close to the weed line and any gaps in it. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Emance lies in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, in Quebec. Elevation runs to 396 metres. Chibougamau sits 84 km from the bank. Saguenay is the closest city, 237 km away. Within a short drive: Lac Baud sits 2 km out, Lac Theze the better part of 2.7 km, Lac Flacourt sits 3 km out, Lac Poutrincourt the better part of 3.5 km and Lac Castelle sits 3.7 km out. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac Emance gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Long-run averages give July about 16°C and January about -19°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Expect Lac Emance to follow that timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Baud sits 2 km off and takes the overflow. Signs at Lac Emance carry more weight than any list.
