An even grey lid over the water, with hardly a ripple anywhere and pressure going nowhere. Give shallow cover and weed edges the first hour at Lac Elie. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Elie falls in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 452 metres. It runs to roughly 23 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The full circuit measures close to 3.0 km on foot. For supplies, Leblanc is 108 km out. Senneterre lies 111 km off, Lebel-sur-Quévillon another 135 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Abitibi-Témiscamingue: northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Lac Elie gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 16°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Expect Lac Elie to follow that timing.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, Lac Brunetiere is 1.6 km off. Rules at Lac Elie are worth checking on the day.
