A grey, even sky over the water, with a light chop building from the S with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Lac Echo around the shaded margin through bright spells. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Outaouais, Lac Echo is a Quebec water. It sits at 185 metres above sea level. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Quebec listings. Supplies mean a trip to Wakefield, 14 km off. Val-des-Monts follows at 26 km, then Cantley at 26 km. In the same area: 1.4 km out stands Lac Lascelles, Lac Sullivan at 1.6 km, 3 km out stands Lac Lattimer, Lac Bernard at 3 km and 3.3 km out stands Lac Robinson. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. Lac Echo gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Typical July readings run about 19°C; by January the average is down near -13°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near early December: that is the shape of an average year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Expect Lac Echo to follow that timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Lac Lascelles, 1.4 km out. Check the position at Lac Echo before loading the car.
