Flat light and a covered sky today, with light air out of the S and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac E along inflow corners and shaded margins. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

You will find Lac E in Laurentides, Quebec. The water sits 368 metres up. At roughly 2 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Laurentides list. Supplies mean a trip to Lac-Simon, 4.2 km off. Beyond it, La Conception at 7 km and La Minerve at 17 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The shape of Lac E rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The range across the year is -14°C to 18°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. On Lac E the same rules apply, with local timing.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Should this one be busy, Lac des Camps is 0.8 km off. Check the current arrangement for Lac E.
