No direct sun expected today, with mild air moving in from the S and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac du Vautour around windblown banks where food collects. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac du Vautour is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. Around the bank it is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The closest town, Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, is 37 km distant. After that come Shawinigan at 43 km and Mandeville at 45 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye, yellow perch and white sucker. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Lac du Vautour gives up more to patience than to distance.
Long-term averages put July at about 18°C and January near -15°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. The season on Lac du Vautour follows the weather closely.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac a la Belette at 1.2 km is the sensible second choice. Treat Lac du Vautour as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
