Dull, settled light over the water, with mild air moving in from the WSW and steady pressure. The fish at Lac du Sabbat are likely to sit near the shallows early and the drop later. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean entry here is Lac du Sabbat, in Quebec. The surface lies 711 metres up. Compared with other Quebec water on our list, it sits high. The closest town, Saint-Fulgence, is 39 km away. Further out sit La Baie (45 km) and Saint-Honoré (49 km). Within easy reach: Lac Sorcier sits 0.3 km out, Lac du Sciotte just 0.9 km, Lac de l'Horloge sits 0.9 km out, Lac du Recueil just 1 km and Lac Fondu sits 1.1 km out. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean records list northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish among the fish reported. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Anyone new to Lac du Sabbat should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July near 15°C and January near -18°C on the long-run figures. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid May. On average, mid May opens the water and early November closes it again. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. The season on Lac du Sabbat rarely departs from it.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Sorcier, 0.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Lac du Sabbat, the notice at the access point is the final word.
