An even grey lid over the water, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and pressure going nowhere. On Lac du Rodeur, work the shaded margin through bright spells first. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac du Rodeur is an Outaouais water, in Quebec. Pine and birch runs right down to the water. The water covers some 17 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The whole outline is near 2.6 km, and most of it is walkable. Fort-Coulonge is the closest town at 42 km. Further out sit Saint-Raphaël (43 km) and Maniwaki (50 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Outaouais: pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Lac du Rodeur gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Seasonal averages run from -14°C in January up to 18°C in July. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac du Rodeur.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Lac Hogan sits 1 km off and takes the overflow. Ask locally about Lac du Rodeur if anything is unclear.
