An even grey lid over the water, with a whisper of wind from the SW with a settled glass. The water to cover at Lac du Passant is the shaded margin through bright spells. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac du Passant sits within Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec. The surface lies 346 metres up. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. You are 74 km from Pont Rouge. After that come Labrecque at 74 km and Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc at 75 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Read Lac du Passant for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Between January at about -19°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. This is a two-season water: locked, then wide open. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Anyone fishing Lac du Passant regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Lac du Bon Vent, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac du Passant in what we hold.
