No direct sun expected today, with a firm SSW blow with the glass holding level. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Lac du Nord. The best of it runs the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac du Nord stands in Lanaudière, Quebec. This is mixed forest ground. At about 17 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Roughly 2.3 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Michel-des-Saints, 12 km away. Beyond it, Mandeville at 45 km and Saint-Gabriel at 48 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Lanaudière include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Work Lac du Nord in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The warm month here averages 17°C; the cold one sits at -15°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac du Nord.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Paul at 1.1 km is the sensible second choice. Signs at Lac du Nord carry more weight than any list.
