Fog slow to lift off the water today, with a working SSW breeze with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac du Lezard along bays that hold the day's warmth. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Lac du Lezard is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. The surface lies 522 metres up. Around 58 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. There is roughly 8.8 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Size puts it in the front rank of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Some 49 km away sits Saint-Félicien, the nearest settlement. Then Normandin, 54 km, and Saint-Prime, 55 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lac du Lezard repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. The season on Lac du Lezard rarely departs from it.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Lac Brilland, 2.3 km away. For Lac du Lezard, the notice at the access point is the final word.
