A grey, even sky over the water, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Lac Cristal should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. One clear peak today: the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean in Quebec is where Lac Cristal sits. It stands 495 metres above sea level. Around 12 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. Roughly 2.1 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Saint-Félicien is the closest place, 52 km off. It is 152 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The shape of Lac Cristal rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The warmest month averages 16°C, the coldest about -18°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. At Lac Cristal the season follows that pattern closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Pinet at 2 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm access to Lac Cristal locally before you travel.
