No direct sun expected today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSE with the barometer flat. Start the search at Lac du Carvi along reed fringes and open pockets. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac du Carvi stands in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It stands 300 metres above sea level. Surface area runs to about 8 hectares — small enough to read in one session. The town to know is Normandin, 70 km out. Beyond it, Albanel at 73 km and Dolbeau-Mistassini at 87 km. Nearest other option: 0.7 km away is Lac Lantenay, Lac Louer 1 km off, 1.6 km away is Lac du Moulinet, Lac Vienne 1.6 km off and 1.7 km away is Lac Drucat. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Treat Lac du Carvi as a water to read rather than to cover.
The year swings from about -19°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac du Carvi runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Lac Lantenay, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Lac du Carvi may have changed since it was mapped.
