Flat light and a covered sky today, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Lac du Brule should come off shallow cover and weed edges. Set the alarm around the night. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Out in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, sits Lac du Brule. The setting is taiga on every side. At some 1.13 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. At about 8.8 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. On our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list it sits near the top for size. The town to know is Métabetchouan, 43 km out. Then Roberval, 44 km, and Chambord, 45 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Lac du Brule to its features, not to its size.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -17°C. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. On Lac du Brule the same rules apply, with local timing.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. If the gate is shut, Lac Bourque at 0.4 km is the nearest alternative. The position on Lac du Brule is worth confirming on the day.
