Bands of rain crossing through the day, with a faint S drift and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Lac Drummond will be around bays that hold the day's warmth. The day peaks in the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Drummond falls in Laurentides, part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 378 metres. Around 47 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 4.5 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Few waters listed in Laurentides are bigger. Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts is the closest place, 7.3 km off. Beyond it, Val-David at 12 km and Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard at 15 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Lac Drummond repays a walk before the first cast.
Averages move between -14°C in January and 18°C in July. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It holds true on Lac Drummond more years than not.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There are toilets 1.1 km off. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Lac Ephrem at 1.5 km is the sensible second choice. What applies at Lac Drummond may have changed since it was mapped.
