Steady rain over the water today, with mild air moving in from the SSW and pressure sitting still. Activity on Lac de la Brume should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. Set the alarm around the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Laurentides, Quebec, is where Lac de la Brume sits. The bank gives way to rolling bush. At about 23 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge runs 3.1 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Some 9.1 km away sits Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, the nearest settlement. Further out sit Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard (13 km) and Val-David (14 km). The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Lac de la Brume gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Averages move between -14°C in January and 18°C in July. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Lac de la Brume runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Failing this one, try Lac Rond, 0.4 km away. Rules at Lac de la Brume are worth checking on the day.
