Steady rain over the water today, with a light SSW breeze and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Cornu should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. Set the alarm around the morning. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac Cornu is a Laurentides water, in Quebec. The country round it is lake country bush from end to end. About 1.38 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. The edge covers about 13 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. On our Laurentides list it sits near the top for size. The nearest town is Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, 12 km away. Saint-Adolphe-d'Howard is 14 km away, with Val-David at 17 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. On Lac Cornu a short move beats a long cast.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -14°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. It holds true on Lac Cornu more years than not.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac du Canard at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. Confirm access to Lac Cornu locally before you travel.
