Fresh rain topping the water up today, with the water lying quiet and no real change in pressure. On Lac Drumlin, work reed fringes and open pockets first. The day peaks in the night. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Drumlin is one of the Nord-du-Québec waters in Quebec. Elevation runs to 407 metres. It runs to roughly 10 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. A shoreline of some 1.7 km keeps the choices simple. Our Nord-du-Québec list holds plenty of bigger water. Chibougamau lies 21 km from the water. Chapais lies 35 km off, Mistissini another 85 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Nord-du-Québec, recorded fish include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Read Lac Drumlin for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -19°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Lac Drumlin fishes to that pattern most years.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Lac Inlet, 3 km away. Check the current arrangement for Lac Drumlin.
