Open sky and sharp air tonight, with dead-still conditions and pressure going nowhere. Lac Douglas should fish best around windblown banks where food collects today. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac Douglas in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 255 metres. With some 41 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. A shoreline of some 4.0 km keeps the choices simple. Notre-Dame-du-Lac lies 12 km from the water. The nearest city of size is Greater Sudbury, 162 km away. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Abitibi-Témiscamingue, recorded fish include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The shape of Lac Douglas rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Averages move between -14°C in January and 18°C in July. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The lid tends to go about late April and return around late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan around that when you fish Lac Douglas.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Petit lac Beauchene is 2.6 km off. Check the position at Lac Douglas before loading the car.
