Cloud coming and going through the night, with next to no ripple with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac Dole along reed fringes and open pockets. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Quebec holds Lac Dole, in Outaouais. Elevation runs to 254 metres. This is a pocket water of some 3 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is a small entry by Outaouais standards. The town to know is Thurso, 11 km out. Further out sit Saint-André-Avellin (16 km) and Ripon (16 km). If this one is busy: Lac Vert 0.3 km off, Lac Howard after 0.8 km, Lac Laroche 1 km off, Lac Robert after 1.3 km and Lac Croche 1.7 km off. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Treat Lac Dole as a water to read rather than to cover.
Temperature averages peak at 19°C in July and bottom out at -13°C in January. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around early December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. That shapes the year on Lac Dole.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Lac Vert sits 0.3 km off and takes the overflow. Confirm access to Lac Dole locally before you travel.
