A grey, even sky over the water, with air barely moving and the barometer holding steady. The water to cover at Lac Burke is reed fringes and open pockets. Plan around the stretch from the day. Change depth before you change anything else. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Burke is listed under Outaouais, Quebec. Height above sea level is 226 metres. It covers about 4 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Outaouais. The closest town, Thurso, is 13 km distant. Orléans sits 32 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. The county list is broader than any single water. The near bank of Lac Burke is often the one people ignore.
The seasonal spread runs -13°C to 19°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near early December in autumn. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac Burke runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Expect a 610 m walk in from where the car goes. Toilets are 620 m away, which matters on a long session. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. The nearest alternative is Lac Stralem, 0.6 km out. Signs at Lac Burke carry more weight than any list.
