A still, cloudless night on the water, with light air out of the WSW and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Lac des Sables along structure within a cast of the bank. The best of it runs afternoon into evening. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lac des Sables in Laurentides, Quebec. The bank is 18 metres above sea level. Roughly 3.2 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. It ranks high for size among our Laurentides listings. The closest town, Pointe-Calumet, is 0.4 km distant. Saint-Joseph-du-Lac is 4.1 km and Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac 4.4 km. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac des Sables the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
In an average year July sits at 21°C and January at -11°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid April. Climate averages put the opening at about mid April and the closing near early December. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac des Sables fishes to that pattern most years.
The access position is unclear from public sources. A made slipway is 960 m from here, which settles the boat question. There is a marina, Voile Sansoucy, 750 m away. There is somewhere to leave the car, 290 m off. Mapping shows a jetty some 130 m off. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Lac de la Sabliere sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. Rules at Lac des Sables are worth checking on the day.
