Dull, settled light over the water, with a useful S wind pushing food about and steady pressure. Activity on Lac des Coteaux should centre on points where shallow meets deep. Save your energy for the morning. Let the water tell you when to move. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac des Coteaux sits in Mauricie, out in Quebec. It lies 373 metres above sea level. It measures some 1.16 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. At about 10 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. On our Mauricie list it sits near the top for size. La Tuque sits 44 km from the bank. Beyond it, Laurentides at 46 km and Saint-Raymond at 79 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Mauricie: northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Fish Lac des Coteaux to its features, not to its size.
Averages move between -16°C in January and 17°C in July. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Ice is part of the season here, ending near early May. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. On Lac des Coteaux that shapes the whole year.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Phyllis, 2.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Lac des Coteaux.
