Flat light and a covered sky today, with a light S breeze with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac des Camps should come off the shallows early and the drop later. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac des Camps sits in Outaouais, out in Quebec. The water sits 241 metres up. At roughly 6 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Head to Wakefield, 32 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, Val-des-Monts at 33 km and Saint-Raphaël at 42 km. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Fish Lac des Camps where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
In an average year July sits at 19°C and January at -13°C. Hard water is a season in its own right here. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near early December in autumn. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan any trip to Lac des Camps around it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Laroche, 0.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac des Camps as something to verify.
