Fishing at Lac Creux, Outaouais, Quebec

• Overview

  Lac Creux is an Outaouais water, Quebec side. The country round it is rolling bush from end to end. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Outaouais list. Head to Wakefield, 32 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Val-des-Monts (32 km) and Cantley (42 km). • Where to Fish on Lac Creux

  Depth figures are not published for this one. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Lac Creux the first feature you find is usually worth a session.

  Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -13°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly early December. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Creux.

• Tackle & Baits

  Access is not recorded for this water. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places.
