A grey, even sky over the water, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac Denise around the seam between weed and open water. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Denise stands in Côte-Nord, Quebec. Tidal water begins 13 km from here. At roughly 9 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is low-lying compared with other Quebec water we list. 14 km away sits Hauterive, the nearest town. Baie-Comeau follows at 16 km, then Chute-aux-Outardes at 23 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lac Denise the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July near 16°C and January near -15°C on the long-run figures. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That is the shape of the year on Lac Denise.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Lac Antoine is 1 km distant. For Lac Denise, the notice at the access point is the final word.
