A closed sky with even light today, with a light chop building from the S and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lac Denis will be around the margins and the shelf beyond them. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the evening. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

In Quebec, Lac Denis belongs to Côte-Nord. This is spruce and muskeg ground. With some 22 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The bank runs about 2.9 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Start from Godefroy, 126 km down the road. Saguenay sits 309 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Côte-Nord, recorded fish include logperch. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. Treat Lac Denis as a water to read rather than to cover.
The range across the year is -20°C to 15°C. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Look for the thaw near mid May; the fishing lifts straight after. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid May in spring and again near early November in autumn. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. At Lac Denis the season follows that pattern closely.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Should this one be busy, Lac Marthe is 0.8 km off. Treat access at Lac Denis as something to verify.
