Overcast skies today, with a light chop building from the S and no real change in pressure. Lac Charbon should fish best around the weed line and any gaps in it today. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Charbon lies within the bounds of Côte-Nord, Quebec. It lies 390 metres above sea level. It measures about 48 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 4.2 km, and most of it is walkable. The closest town, Godefroy, is 132 km distant. Saguenay is the closest city, 304 km away. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Côte-Nord include logperch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. The shape of Lac Charbon rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Expect July to average close to 15°C, with January the cold end at about -20°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid May. Break-up sits around mid May on average, with the water closing again about early November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Charbon runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the perch, a small jig tipped with worm, dropped along the edges, is hard to beat. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Gigot, 2.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm before you fish Lac Charbon.
