Soft grey light all day today, with a kind S breeze on the water and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Denis should come off structure within a cast of the bank. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac Denis is a Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean water, Quebec side. The land about it is northern bush. About 9 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Nearest town is Labrecque, 37 km off. Further out sit L'Ascension-de-Notre-Seigneur (37 km) and Sainte-Monique (39 km). There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Read Lac Denis for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Ice holds for a long stretch, so the open weeks matter more here than further south. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. It holds true on Lac Denis more years than not.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Lac Bernard, 0.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position on Lac Denis before loading the car.
