Dull, settled light over the water, with an easy breeze from the SSW with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Lac Dean should be near inflow corners and shaded margins. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

The Outaouais entry here is Lac Dean, in Quebec. What surrounds it is mixed forest. It runs to roughly 20 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Roughly 2.0 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Saint-Boniface is the closest place, 55 km off. It is 171 km to Gatineau, the nearest city. No border sits close enough to matter.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Survey and observation records for Outaouais include pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Dean the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
The seasonal spread runs -16°C to 18°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Lac Dean runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac du Malure is 2 km distant. Where Lac Dean is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
