A closed sky with even light today, with a mirror surface most of the day with the glass holding level. Activity on Lac de l'Ouragan should centre on sheltered bays and points. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Lac de l'Ouragan belongs to Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. The surface lies 684 metres up. Roughly 30 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The bank runs about 3.1 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. On our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list it sits near the top for size. Some 45 km away sits Saint-Honoré, the nearest settlement. Further out sit Saint-Ambroise (51 km) and Saint-Fulgence (51 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Lac de l'Ouragan the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Average temperature peaks around 15°C in July and bottoms out near -19°C in January. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid May. In an average year the thaw lands around mid May and the freeze near early November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Plan any trip to Lac de l'Ouragan around it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Should this one be busy, Lac du Mefait is 0.9 km off. What applies at Lac de l'Ouragan may have changed since it was mapped.
