Solid cloud cover today, with a kind S breeze on the water with the barometer flat. The fish at Lac de l'Ile are likely to sit near the margins and the shelf beyond them. The forecast is against you; the morning is the least bad option. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Lac de l'Ile in Outaouais, Quebec. It sits in rolling bush. At 1.55 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. Some 5.8 km of bank gives room to move when the wind turns. On our Outaouais list it sits near the top for size. Nearest town is Wakefield, 25 km off. After that come Constance Bay at 32 km and Cantley at 35 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Public occurrence data for Outaouais names pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, rainbow smelt and Iowa darter. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. At Lac de l'Ile the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The range across the year is -13°C to 19°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near early December in autumn. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. On Lac de l'Ile the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There are toilets mapped about 300 m away. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Lac Cameron, 2.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lac de l'Ile if anything is unclear.
