Dull, settled light over the water, with a soft S wind with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac de l'Abies should come off points where shallow meets deep. The day peaks in the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac de l'Abies is listed under Laurentides, Quebec. Height above sea level is 268 metres. The water covers some 16 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. With about 2.7 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Lac-Simon is the closest place, 9.1 km off. After that come La Minerve at 9.1 km and La Conception at 12 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac de l'Abies the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -14°C at the bottom of winter. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near late November in autumn. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Lac de l'Abies runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac du Passage sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac de l'Abies, the notice at the access point is the final word.
