Soft grey light all day today, with barely a breath of wind and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Lac de la Vigie along the calm side of the wind. The night carries the best of the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac de la Vigie belongs to Mauricie, Quebec. Spruce and muskeg runs right down to the water. With some 75 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The shoreline runs about 7.9 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. It is among the larger waters listed here for Mauricie. Head to Weymontachie, 54 km away, for anything you forgot. Leblanc is 58 km and Saint-Félicien 89 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Lac de la Vigie that means starting tight and working out.
Averages move between -18°C in January and 16°C in July. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Lac de la Vigie to follow that timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Failing this one, try Lac de l'Abus, 1.1 km away. For Lac de la Vigie, the notice at the access point is the final word.
