Thunder risk building through the day, with calm air over the water with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lac de la Soie should be near inflow corners and shaded margins. Not a day the forecast likes; the morning keeps a flicker of interest. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

This water sits in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec. The land about it is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Our Abitibi-Témiscamingue list holds plenty of bigger water. Start from Deep River, 113 km down the road. Saint-Boniface follows at 114 km, then Val-d'Or at 120 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, white sucker and brown bullhead. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Work Lac de la Soie in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -16°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That shapes the year on Lac de la Soie.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac du Chaton sits 0.5 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac de la Soie in particular, ask before you travel.
