No direct sun expected today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the WSW with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac de la Saucisse should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac de la Saucisse falls in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, part of Quebec. It stands 741 metres above sea level. The far bank is a conversation away, so keep low and quiet. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. Saint-Honoré lies 39 km from the water. Beyond it, Saint-Fulgence at 40 km and Chicoutimi at 48 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The near bank of Lac de la Saucisse is often the one people ignore.
Between January at about -19°C and July at about 15°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter runs most of the calendar, and everything worth doing happens in the gap. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid May and starts locking again about early November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. The season on Lac de la Saucisse rarely departs from it.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Lac Boreal, 0.7 km away. Confirm before you fish Lac de la Saucisse.
